Color Theory is operated by McMac Media LLC. This policy covers colortheoryapp.com and colortheory.me. For privacy requests, support, or an email opt-out, contact privacy@colortheory.me.

Your photo

Color sampling happens on your device. The app does not upload your selfie, camera stream, face landmarks or sampled skin, hair and eye pixels to our server. It does not identify who you are or create a face-recognition template. Optional browser face detection locates a face area locally; it does not verify identity. Camera access requires your browser's permission.

A resized copy of your photo, color samples and report draft can be kept in this tab's session storage so they survive checkout. Browser session-restoration features may retain this data beyond closing a tab. The app does not use your photo to train a model. Shared palette cards contain colors and your season, not your photo, email or report code.

Information we receive

What we use it for

We use checkout and report information to provide the report you purchase, restore access, resolve support requests, prevent abuse and maintain transaction records. Optional analytics help us understand the flow. Optional marketing permission lets us send the color tips or launch updates you requested. Buying a report does not automatically subscribe you to marketing.

Cookies, storage and advertising

Essential browser storage remembers your privacy choice, adult confirmation, report access details and checkout draft. You can use the report without optional tracking. Choose analytics and advertising separately in Privacy choices. Analytics includes our own funnel events and Google Analytics. Advertising enables TikTok Pixel, which may receive browser/device information, visit and conversion events and use cookies for campaign measurement and advertising purposes. These providers may process data outside your country.

We do not send your selfie, color samples, email or demographic fields to Google Analytics or TikTok Pixel through our event payloads. We do not load these tags on a payment-return URL containing a private Checkout identifier. Google and TikTok have their own retention and processing practices: Google privacy and TikTok privacy.

We honor supported Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals by disabling optional tracking. Advertising disclosures and opt-out requirements depend on applicable law; enabling an advertising provider can be treated as sharing for targeted advertising. We do not exchange customer lists for money. Rejecting optional tracking does not change the price or features of your report. Withdrawal stops future tracking on this browser; it does not recall data already sent to a provider.

Storage and retention

Application records are stored in our MySQL database on DigitalOcean infrastructure. Server access controls restrict database access, and the database listens locally. No internet service can promise absolute security. Stripe holds payment records separately. We retain report access and transaction information to provide continuing access and meet applicable accounting, dispute and legal requirements; contact us to request deletion or a retention review. Requested deletions may exclude records we must keep by law.

The production funnel table removes events older than 90 days during its daily-on-use retention check. Launch-list records remain until you unsubscribe or request deletion, or we discontinue the list. Copies in operational backups may remain until those backups are retired. Backups and account-level settings require separate operational controls; clearing browser data does not delete server records.

Your choices and requests

Email privacy@colortheory.me to request access, correction, deletion, marketing opt-out, or help with a report. We may ask for proportionate proof of ownership, such as the checkout email and report code. Do not email card numbers, passwords or unnecessary photo/identity documents. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, including objection, restriction, portability or a complaint to your local privacy regulator. We will assess requests under applicable law.

You can remove this tab's cached photo and report details below. Keep your report code first if you want to restore the report. Other open tabs may still hold a photo in memory or their own session storage; close or clear those tabs too.

Adults only

This service is for people 18 and older. Do not submit a child's photo or personal information. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has submitted information, so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.

Policy changes

We identify material updates by the effective date above and may give additional notice when required. New optional processing requires a new choice where applicable.

Your report. Your style.

These terms cover the Color Theory service supplied by McMac Media LLC. Contact privacy@colortheory.me for support. You must be 18 or older and have permission to use any photo you select.

What you're buying

A $3.99 USD one-time payment unlocks one seasonal palette report, its available style guidance, virtual drapes and downloadable card. The final amount is shown in Stripe Checkout before payment. There is no subscription. Future clothing checks, makeup matching and other coming-soon features are not part of the purchase. Access depends on continued operation of the service; download your card and retain your report code.

A styling estimate

The app uses hand-set color-analysis rules, not a validated scientific assessment, medical test or professional in-person consultation. Photos, lighting, camera processing, makeup, hair dye and display settings can change the result. Seasonal palettes are style suggestions, not restrictions on what you should wear. No exact season, appearance improvement or agreement with a professional analyst is guaranteed. Example images and reports are illustrative, not testimonials.

Delivery and support

Your report becomes available on the site after payment verification. Save your report code; anyone with that code may be able to view its palette. Do not post the code publicly. If you have a duplicate charge, cannot access a paid report, or believe the product was misdescribed, contact us with your checkout email and payment reference so we can investigate and address the issue, including refunds where appropriate or legally required. These terms do not limit non-waivable consumer rights or create a blanket waiver of statutory cancellation rights.

Responsible use

Do not upload other people's images without permission, submit children's data, use the service for identity or eligibility decisions, try to access another person's report, abuse checkout or signup endpoints, or disrupt the service. You may save and share your palette card for personal use. You retain rights in your photos; selecting a photo does not grant us a license to use it in advertising or training.

Changes and applicable rights

We may change future features or suspend abusive use. We will handle changes affecting a purchased product and any disputes in accordance with applicable law. Nothing here excludes liability or consumer protections that cannot lawfully be excluded.
